How many people have anal sex?

Studies dating back to 1938 showed 9% of hetersexual non-married males and females participated in anal sex at least once.  A recent 2002 study where 12,571 men and women were interviewed in person showed among males 24-44 that 40% had anal sex with a female!  Numbers were slightly lower for women.   Another US study of 3,432 adults showed that 25% had experimented with anal sex at least once.  A 1990 Kinsey Institute study found that 27% of male and 24% of female college students had anal sex at least once.
