I think the important thing to remember is that humans naturally watch the behaviors of their partners and interpret them as a reflection of their own skill.  Face it, we all want to please our partners and when they moan or orgasm we feel good because we pleased them!  Don't ever assume silence means something bad - which a lot of people do.  Sometimes the greatest pleasure is in silence.  When in doubt, ask your partner how it was!  The biggest sex organ is the brain and communication is one way to get it going!
